01What it is
Black Bottom is a stereo FET-style compressor. I made it for the music I work on: funk, hip hop, rap and R&B. Reach for it when you want energy, punch and character, not invisible level control.
The low end is where it lives. Push INPUT and the bottom gets thick before it gets loud. The detector is high-passed at 90 Hz, so the kick and the bass don't yank the whole mix down. Work it hard and a little hiss breathes with the compression, the way a hard-worked hardware unit does.
Flip CLEAN for the classic FET sound. Same knobs, same ratios, no added color and no hiss.
02Controls
Everything is on the face. No menus.
- Input-24 to +36 dB
- How hard you drive it. More input, more compression, more grit.
- Output-24 to +24 dB
- Make-up gain after the compressor.
- Attack1 to 7
- 1 is slowest (800 µs) and lets the hit through. 7 is fastest (20 µs) and grabs the front of it.
- Release1 to 7
- 1 is slowest (1.1 s), 7 is fastest (50 ms). It slows down the longer it's been working, like the hardware.
- Ratio4 / 8 / 12 / 20 / ALL
- ALL is every ratio button in at once: harder, grabbier, dirtier.
- Mix0 to 100%
- Blend the dry signal back in for parallel compression, right on the channel. At 0% you get your dry signal, untouched.
- CleanSwitch
- The same compressor without the Black Bottom color: no low-end grit, no hiss.
- MeterGR dB
- The needle and the readout show gain reduction.
03Presets
13 presets, dialed in on real dry drums, bass and vocal and level-matched, so switching presets changes the character, not the volume.

No serial keys to copy and paste.
- Try it.Download the free trial and install it. Black Bottom runs as a demo: every control works, but the audio drops out for about a second every 30 seconds.
- Buy it and it unlocks.Buy from the Unlock button inside the plugin and it unlocks by itself. Buy here, then open Black Bottom, click Unlock and sign in with the email you paid with.
- Use it on 3 computers.One license covers 3 computers. On another computer, open Black Bottom, click Unlock and sign in with your purchase email. Getting a new machine? Open Manage in the plugin and deactivate the old one first.
